St Andrew's Cathedral
The original building was the first commission of Archibald Simpson, who designed a chapel to seat 1200. Unusually for Aberdeen, the west front is carried out in Craigleith sandstone, the building being opened for worship in 1817. The building contains a spectacular interior, with a large gold Ciborium Magna, unique heraldic ceilings and large stained glass windows.
